     Sold a Turkish Testament to Mr. Churchhill for 10 piastres. –
A negro ( Mussulman) shot a Greek today at the fountain near Mr. Paizer’s, in consequence of some dispute between them. – The Greek fell dead – The guards afterwards took up the murderer – but whether he will be punished is very doubtful. – At Constantinople Mr. Shoolbred a young gentleman who was here some months ago + whom I knew, was walking in the street in company with some other Turks, when a Turk wantonly drew a pistol + shot him through the leg. – Yesterday the funeral of the Capt. of a French man of war was attended by the Catholics. Several Priests preceeded the corpse chanting. These were preceeded by 200 men bearing such a long quadruple candle. - - A Priest from Bourabat came in to assist at the funeral – As he was returning in the eve. to B. a Turk attacked him + gave him 3 stabs with a yatagan. His wounds are considered dangerous. -
