Image Manipulation :

Photoshop can open a wide variety of image files. Also, images can be imported into Photoshop from scanners and digital cameras. Here is an example of the variables to consider when importing from a flatbed scanner:

1. Place image to be scanned on flatbed scanner.

2. Open Photoshop.
  3. In Photoshop, choose File > Import > Twain 32 or Twain Acquire.
4. Choose an image type that is appropriate for your image. Also, choose the best quality setting. For example, if you have a color photo, choose Sharp Millions of Colors. If you have a black and white drawing, choose Sharp B. and W. Drawing.
5. Choose an image path that is appropriate for how you will use the image. Most of the paths assume you will be printing out your image. More likely however, your image will remain digital forever.

Choose a path that specifies a high resolution, such as a path to a laser printer with a photo resolution of at least 100 dpi (dots per inch) and drawing resolution of at least 300 dpi (choose Custom > Print Path to view resolution settings).

Note: Computer monitors are capable of only 72 dpi. Thus greater resolutions are represented by larger image sizes. Therefore, you may find your scan of a postage stamp (at the settings recommended above) to be considerably magnified.

6. Drag the marquee (the cursor) around the section of the image you wish to scan. The default is the entire image.
