Monday 19th. April. +10 this morn. Clear this morn & the sun shines bright but it will not be a very warm day. But warm weather is close at hand I think of we shall be short of hay. It is all gone except from one bay at the lower barn. Arthur is here so early, to go over his daily round, the blessed boy. He whittles & says "Charles do any of your birds say so"---Frank. carry me up stairs"--tell me a story about your little scholars, " about Carley (Smith) &c. Chases porkish majesty has just passed by I despise a hog. the filthy creatures--------
We sugar off about 80lbs. A.M. We do nothing P.M. A cold day it has been. I go up to Mr. Stones & spend the night. Sarah was there. I have a sociable time of it.

Tues. 20th. Warmer. It clouds up early. 30. Spring weather is at hand I think. I hope so Eve. It has been warmer to day, & a very pleasant evening Sap run some to day we gather 90 pails full. P 60. Charles tags the cure sheep about 60. I read a letter to night from A.E.N. Tracy to our lamented sister who supposed her well. Would that she were-----------

Wed. 21st. Warmer. Clearly partly. More like spring We gather 54 pails of sap- 54+90=144. Shall sugar off tomorrow P 30. Charles is killing birds for specimens Alberts cow got into the mud in the road
