Wed. Aug. 1:

     Yesterday a Fr. Man of war arrived from Cyprus + brings information that the Turkish + Greek fleets were for some time in sight of each other. The Greeks attempted to destroy some of the Turkish vessels by five ships but the five ships were destroyed by the Turks. Both fleets being afraid or unwilling to risk a battle they separated + the Gr. Fleet remain at Samos. – Received a letter from dear Br. P. dated Syra July 27. George had arrived safe. This relieves my mind much.
