During the month of June, Crane’s division was constantly on the move or waiting for other orders. Movement of the division often depended on weather, and due to the rain, Crane’s days often consisted of either following alternative orders or leisurely time. William had long talks with his comrades Pike, Perry and Sewall and surely enjoyed eating his three daily meals. Crane was not able to go to church for a while because it had been damaged by the bombings, but he did not have to worry about that for too long because the 69th division would soon be going into the trenches.
