AMERICAN STUDIES WEB MUSEUM

This is an experimental course in local cultural history and web design. We will use original archival materials from Special Collections to create new exhibits for the American Studies Web Museum at Middlebury College. A considerable portion of class time will be spent in Special Collections. This year's exhibits will focus on a range of nineteenth- and twentieth-century texts having to do with the history of race and education at Middlebury College. Students will learn scanning, web design, and other technical skills.

Andy Wentink, College Archivist and Curator of Special Collections, will assist us in accessing relevant materials in Special Collections. We owe him considerable thanks for his help and expertise.
