How to use Spanish diacritics (accent marks) while taking the Placement Test (Please print this to refer to while taking the test. If you have never done accents this way, you may want to practice before taking the test.)
ON PC'S: The 'Number Lock' light must be on for both A and B below.
A. Standard US keyboard with number pad on the right : Referring to column A (below) and using the number pad on the right, hold 'ALT' while typing the numbers indicated to produce the accented letter. The accented letter will appear with you release the 'ALT' key.
B. Laptop or notebook with 'FN' key: Referring to column B (below) and using the 'FN' key and numbers coded to work with it (not the numbers across the top of the keyboard), hit both 'FN'+'ALT', release, and then the numbers indicated to produce the accented letter.
ON MACS:
C. Referring to column C (below), press both 'Option' and the key indicated, then release both, then strike the letter or symbol you want.
