Future Work

A web project like this is never complete, and itself leads to many future projects. We think the following would be useful extensions of the work we have conducted so far:

• Use the information on past development trends and the town's zoning ordinances to do a build-out analysis of the town. This will allow residents to see whether projections of what the town could look like in the future match what the vision laid out in the town plan.
• Develop a Natural Resource Atlas for Middlebury to allow easy access for everyone to information on the location of important natural features within the town's boundaries.
• Extend the analyses shown here for the developed portion of the town to illustrate changes in the amount of forestland and agricultural land.
• Show a detailed analysis of changes within one or more specific residential developments.
• Develop specific educational activities that would make this web site more useful to students in primary and secondary schools.
