Uploading a website
 
 

Once you have created and tested your website on your own computer, you can upload it to a web server. The uploading of files is done via file sharing on campus or FTP (File Transfer Protocol) off campus.

File Sharing



Windows

1. Double-click the Network Neighborhood icon.
2. Select Serval (if it does not appear double-click Entire Network and then double-click on NetWare Servers).
3. Select Vol 2 and navigate to your class folder/directory.
4. Copy the website folder you created above to this location.

Mac

1. Open the Chooser from the Apple Menu
2. Select AppleShare, choose Academic Computing as the zone, and Serval as the file server
3. Chose Vol 2 for and navigate to your class folder
4. Copy the website folder you created above to this location.

1. Connect to a web server
2. Copy the contents of your website folder/directory into the public_html folder/directory of the web server.
3. Open a browser and type the URL of the public_html folder/directory you have placed the website
4. Click (or double-click) on the table to select it and see its properties. Try varying some of these properties and adding text, images and links into different cells within the table.
5. Preview you changes in a web browser.
