Question: “Ought a man to pray daily in his family” At the preceding meeting it was stated the design of the question was to prove the affirmative from scripture testimony. Disputable however varied something from this in the discourse of the question. was to set forth the necessity ?& duty of prayer To this point some appropriate remarks were made, and some pointed texts of scripture cited viz “pray without ceasing” that men ought always to pray & not to faint. “praying always wit prayer and not supplication”. Eph 6.18 and many other passage of the same important. On the negative the great and important duty of prayer was readily conceded to and the propriety and benefit of it in families acknowledged, still it was urged that there were no positive commands in the holy scripture that men should pray in their families, and that they should pray morning and evening. On he affirmative it was observed in answer
