Common Sources of Error

Make sure the tip is securely fastened. In cases of loose fit, air may be drawn into the tip and/or fluid may escape the tip.

Be careful when choosing a pipetman. Although the P20 and the P200 can both be used to pipet 20µL of fluid, the P20 offers increased control over volume pipetted. In these photos, the P20 and P200 have both drawn in 20µL, but notice that the push button on the P20 (on the left) offers the user more control in dispensing fluids.
