TEENAGERS

di

Jovanotti

Teenagers have long hair
and sideburns like shrubs,
the truth on their t-shirts,
Teenagers cruise around the city.
Teenagers speak to the walls,
but they don't listen to the answer,
they have something written on their t-shirt
but they don't ask what it costs.
Teenagers are in the opinion polls,
listed in percentages.
Teenagers are doing well,
Teenagers are doing badly.
Which teenagers? The better-looking ones
or those ugly teenagers?
The rich ones or the poor ones? What teenagers?
All teenagers! All teenagers, always teenagers,
don't tell me you, too, are among those
in the advertisments,
for orangeade and Coca Cola,
those who shout at the concerts,
those who occupy the school.
those who don't find a job,
those to whom daddy still gives money,
those for whom there's not a fucking thing to do
in this fucking city!
I would like to go from age ten to thirty
not to have to suffer this torture,
the first love, the first house,
have to wear this armor,
the first friend who betrays you
or maybe whom you betray,
the first train that you miss
and that maybe won't come again.
