How to Make Japanese: The Spoken Language CD-ROM Function Properly Under Windows 95/98/NT/2000 (by James Flynn - Coffrin 316)

1. Run Qteasy32.exe (for Windows 95/98/NT/2000)
2. Install QuickTime, selecting to not check for other versions.*
3. Create a directory called "A3W_DATA" in the WINNT folder (fixes errors saving *.wav files when using the microphone).
4. Right-click on setup.exe and choose "Create Shortcut." When it asks to put the shortcut on the desktop, click yes
5. Right-click on "Shortcut to SETUP" on the Desktop. Choose Properties.
6. Click on the tab that says "Compatibility." If there is no such tab, you must install Service Pack 2 (which seems to already be on all Middlebury PCs). Check off "Run in compatibility mode" and select "Microsoft Windows 95" from the drop-down menu. DO NOT SELECT WINDOWS NT, IT WILL NOT WORK.
7. Click "OK."
8. Double-click on "Shortcut to SETUP."
9. Install Japanese: The Spoken Language.

*QuickTime 5, which is already installed, does not have all the files the program needs. Not installing it will give errors later on and videos will not play. To restore file associations after installing QuickTime 2.1.2, simply run QuickTime 5 once (C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QuickTimePlayer.exe) and click "OK."
