The Bottom Line

Much of this analysis was based on the recommendations of Mr. Lawrence Mott, a renewable integration analyst for Northern Power Systems. Mr. Mott suggested that given the wind capacity of the Snow Bowl, the machine most likely to be installed would be the North Wind NW100/19. This analysis was performed for the installation of two of these small turbines.

Because we do not know how long energy can be stored and because it is impossible to tell how much wind will be blowing each month, it was difficult to determine how much of the energy produced would be used by the Snow Bowl. In order to get a more accurate estimate, a professional would have to be hired. Given the unknown factors and the fact that most wind power is usually produced in the winter months, we used the best case scenario, where the Snow Bowl would not have to purchase electricity elsewhere, to determine our analysis.
