On Changes in the Universe (1845)
On the different changes of the universe.

In my last composition I wrote a few lines on the different changes of the universe and now I am going to say a little more. I said before that that the world was constantly changing and it is, how happy shall we be when we get to that world that never changes, and that world will soon come. There are thousands of changes going on every day on our farms that we do not notice, and thousands that we do. There are changes in everything. Last year we said 1843 and this year we say 1844, we can no more say 1843 and but one more year 1844, thus you see every year we have to change the date. Persons around us are fast drifting away and these are all changes in this world. There are several languages but most of us do not understand but one. Not only do the trees and plants change but we change in sentiment.
