On the Importance of a Well Spent Youth

By now George’s writing has taken form as his grammar is proper and his syntax is advancing. In this composition he appears to have gained much maturity as he is able to extrapolate the importance and finiteness of his youth in relation to his life. It is interesting to note his opinions of childhood being an important time to play rather than to grow up as quickly as possible.

January 30th, 1847

War! War!!

More than a year since his last documented composition, George has matured quite a bit, and now writes about his political views pertaining to the developing war against Mexico. His opinions are very passionate and it is interesting to note his rebellious tone while speaking against the government.

December 25, 1849

Mysteries

A composition that is very similar to his earlier writings on the changes in the universe, Weeks expresses his awe over new technologies and scientific phenomena. He questions the methods of electricity, magnetism, and galvanization as new but strange concepts.
