We're in a spruce forest at about 3000 feet above sea level. There are 100s of trees right within this area, but if we go uphill just a little bit, there are far fewer trees. And if we go uphill just a couple hundred yards, there are almost no erect spruce trees. So we are at treeline. We're at the limit of the forest and we've got a large study plot-- 50 m by 50 m, about half the size of a football field that has about 100 live white spruce trees in it.
