This class offers a journey through the works of the renowned Spanish filmmaker Luis Buñuel and the cultural movements from which he drew inspiration. We will establish a dialogue between his films and Spanish and Latin American artistic trends such as surrealism, the picaresque, the grotesque, esperpento, and (magic) realism. Materials include: literature (Lorca, Rulfo, Galdós), painting (Orozco, Posada, Rivera, Dalí) and photography (Álvarez Bravo, Modotti, Rulfo). | ||
